Rivercity Communications was started in 1997 with a desire to build a telephone communications company that would deliver knowledgeable and reliable customer service at an affordable price with honesty and integrity to all South Texans with communications needs.
At Rivercity Communications, taking care of you, the customer, is the most important part of the business. Both Kimberly and Gary continue to enjoy many long-term relationships with customers who have relied on Rivercity since the beginning.
Rivercity Communications is insured, and all technicians are covered by workers compensation.
Gary R. Scheffler
When Gary began working in the telecommunications industry during his college days, he was following in his father's footsteps. That legacy and those summers spent in the business continued until Gary completed his degree in 1978 and assumed a role full time at Southwestern Bell Telephone (SWBT).
As an entry level employee, Gary started with the company and literally worked his way up in those early days, collecting disconnected phones and climbing poles in and around Houston, Texas. That early experience served him well, and by the early 1980s, he began supporting the infrastructure of the Houston skyscraper projects that ran 24/7.
A San Antonio native, Gary returned in 1985 to work with SWBT, which was later purchased by AT&T. He soon became the AT&T representative dedicated to servicing major accounts in San Antonio. During that time, Gary also received training on all phone systems, and was the youngest "large system" technician in the San Antonio office.
Gary later managed operations for several other long-distance and interconnect companies until he, with Kimberly, founded Rivercity Communications in 1997.
